Nats want Sizemore, Carmona?

Grady Sizemore
The Indians are still looking to move salary, and could unload two of their top three payroll obligations for 2011 if, as reported by MASN's Phil Wood, the Nationals are potentially interested in trading for pitcher Fausto Carmona and outfielder Grady Sizemore.

Carmona is due $6.1 million in 2011, with three years of club options beyond that. He wouldn't exactly be the top-of-the-rotation ace Mike Rizzo went into the winter targeting, but based on his 2010 numbers (13-14, 3.77 ERA, 210.1 innings, 102 ERA+), he can at least be a solid rotation piece.

Sizemore was originally a prospect for the Expos (now Nationals) before went to Cleveland along with Cliff Lee in that bizarre Bartolo Colon trade in 2002. Sizemore would be a somewhat high-risk acquisition, as he played just 33 games last season before being knocked out by knee surgery and might or might not even be ready for opening day. But it's a high-upside scenario if Sizemore is healthy -- it's not often you get a shot at a 28-year-old three-time All-Star center fielder. He's due to make $7.5 million this season with an $8.5 million club option for 2011.

Keep in mind that this is just talk, and the Nationals might end up interested in one of the two instead of both (assuming even that Cleveland would part with both), but if Washington got the pair it would be $13.6 million for a couple of potentially big pieces with options in place for another year or, alternately, the chance to cut ties. The Indians would get even closer to the bottom of the barrel in payroll, and Indians fans would again get the shaft.

Right On!

The Dolans are a joke, and have no idea how to run a business that isn't a monopoly.  Not just major league sports, but entertainment complexes and newspapers.  They have not a clue, as demonstrated by the failure of all these enterprises.  As long as dregs such as the Dolans are allowed to participate fans of their teams will continue to suffer.

You can't blame Cleveland fans; have a little sympathy.  They have had to endure first Art Modell and now the Dolans.

Be careful ironmic1 - don't do the same thing CV1085 did.... I am a Florida grad and fan.  I understand your point about CV1085 possibly being a "flavor of the moment" fan, though.

For those of you who think the Nationa's have nothing to offer, think again.  They are 10x further along than the Tribe and have a ton of young talent.  Cleveland once rocked now we suck and will until the fans speak out against the Dolan Empire..

Impossible...Sizemore and Carmona are not washed-up, ex-Reds...aren't those the only players the Nats sign ? Oh, other than overpaid Phillies role players, of course.

Fans in Cleveland are good folk.  The Dolans are a joke in the MLB and the NBA.

Mistake by the Lake! Cleveland!

Only place I know where a fire was more likely to be in water than on land! Oh Cleveland!

The Indians are a sad, pathetic franchise.  It really is sad to see what they were 5 years ago, to what they are today...

This guy is obviously a zit faced little punk.  Cleveland has some of the greatest fans there are.   The Browns sell out every game despite having only two winning seasons in the last 11 yrs.   The Indians hold the record for consecutive sellouts.    My guess is you're some kind of front runner who happens to like the Yankees,  Patriots and you're new favorite basketball team is the Heat.  You probably root for Florida or Alabama in football but are a HUGE Duke fan in basketball, all this despite the fact you live 20 miles from Texas A&M.

It's not fair or accurate to say that Cleveland has some of the worst fans; most of us are good, loyal fans
