Camp Panda 2: Electric Boogaloo

Posted on: December 6, 2010 4:58 pm
Pablo Sandoval Last year we heard over and over about "Camp Panda" and Pablo Sandoval's battle to lose weight. There were breathless accounts of his breathlessness after running up hills and eating his veggies. Then, well, Panda do what Panda do -- and he was into his regular, round shape when he showed up for spring training.

Well, Camp Panda 2 is underway, and we'll see if the sequel is as bad as the original.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Monday that the camp is in full effect.

"He's dropped over 10 pounds, so that's good news already," Bochy said (via Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News .) "He seems determined to get back to where he was."

Bochy was asked how much more weight does Sandoval have to lose, Bochy said: "He's got a little ways to go. I don't want to put a number on it, but he's still probably got 15 or so, somewhere in there."
