Bad stuff 'bout the Mets

You have to be able to laugh when times are tough, right? And things are pretty tough for the Mets these days.

Even soon-to-be-sacked manager Jerry Manuel is maintaining his sense of gallows humor, as he laughed Wednesday in response to a question about whether the organization had given him the means to succeed this season.

But for a real laugh about the plight of the team, check out this fake Mets commercial by New York comic duo Greg Burke and Lou Perez. In it, Mets assistant general manager John Ricco (who is a real person, but this isn't him) implores people to submit resumes to the team for its many open positions, including "first base, second base, shortstop ..."

As a Mets parody, it might not supplant the work of Chico Escuela, but it's good stuff.
