Albert Pujols
Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols has been playing with a "jammed" elbow for more than two weeks, manager Tony La Russa revealed Sunday.

La Russa said Pujols hurt the elbow during a trip to Pittsburgh on August 23-25, and aggravated it later in the same road trip in Washington. He has been wearing a compression sleeve on his left arm but has not missed a game.

In fact, apart from a career-long 0-for-19 stretch, Pujols has been Pujols -- which is to say, a monster -- since the injury. He drove in all three of the Cardinals' runs in an extra-inning loss to the Braves on Saturday, and on Sunday hit two solo homers in the first five innings. It was his 38th career multi-homer game, surpassing Stan Musial for the franchise record.

Pujols entered Sunday with two-thirds of the National League Triple Crown, leading with 37 homers and 102 RBI. When he ecliped the 100-RBI mark Saturday, it made him the second player in baseball history (Al Simmons was the other) with 100 RBI in each of his first 10 seasons.

If Pujols were lost for any length of time with an injury, it would be the death blow to the Cardinals' already tenuous playoff hopes. But at this point, their primary weapon appears to be hanging tough.

Evidently you need to learn how to post rather than just writing incoherant nonsense and then posting virtually the same thought a few minutes later. You do realize that you said in different words the same thing twice right? The best part I think is where you blabber on and on about not responding to my point. You said something to the effect of, " people shouldn't trash talk" and I simply pulled a comment that you made and called it for what it was which is hypocritical. Unfortunately along with being a little too dense to reach you are also unable to read yourself. The reference I made was in the thread that you were "trash talking". Most of those Reds fans were either talking about thier team or responding to whiny Cardinal fans.

Curious to know how Reds fans would be more humiliated than the fans of a team that is losing games to bottum feeders this season. You worry about your team and I'll worry about mine. And just so you know I never said I was "just happy for my team" in my responses to you. I love conversing with ignorant fans like yourself. I'm just happy for my team and concerned for my team in a million different threads but on this one I choose to be responding to the homer. Do you understand the difference.

If Reds fans showed some class they wouldn't be humilated even before the playoffs begin.  Calling people morons and whiners does seem like people are just being excited for their team, at least not to me.  Evidently you need to learn how to read.

Calling the Cards whiners is really just being excited for their team.  Maybe instead of calling people morons you should learn to read.  If Reds fans posting at this site showed a little class they wouldn't be humilated...

What do you call this moron?

"A real playoff contender?"  The Red havent been to the playoffs since when???  The cards contend for world series'.  You reds fans are approaching the chicago cubs fan mentality.  Did Dusty bring some cubby kool-aide to Cinci? "

to someone whos been posting for about a week or two don't start telling people what they should and shouldn't do especially when you do the same thing. Some people come on here and rib other posters about their favorite team and some don't. I try to steer away from it especially with fans of a team that are basically out of contention. You know what? It's ok that your favorite team is playing like the Pirates this season. You don't have to be so bitter about it. It's funny because when I read that thread it was filled with Reds fans mostly just simply excited about their team. God forbid a fan of a team gets excited when they finally have a team thats winning. Your posts just leave you sounding like a big baby. Grow up and have a little class.

Pujols has been playing with 'jammed' elbow

Pujols is a great player and I definately wouldn't say "HE" was whining about the injury. Team management?Maybe. I don't think playing through an injury will sway voters and honestly can't see an organization going to any lengths to try to get a player an individual award. Either way I think it's more about which team wins the division considering its a close race. If Pujols were to win the triple crown then it goes without saying he's the clear winner. Since thats not going to happen and Pujols' team is unlikely to go to the playoffs I think it's more likely between Votto and Gonzalez.

As for the "where were these Reds fans" comment; They were right here but it's kind of hard to talk trash when you aren't winning. You know kind of like how Cards fans for the most part have floated away on these boards little by little as their playoff hopes get dimmer and dimmer every day. A month ago if a Reds fan would've talked trash on a Cardinal game recap he/she would be blasted with about ten messages in five minutes. Now a Red fan posts something and it's a ghost town of replies. I don't blame them. I'm done talking trash for now because I get no fun in kicking a fan when they're down. I'll start my trash talking back up next year. This year I'm more focused on the Reds figuring a way to do some damage in the playoffs. Now thats not to say I wont respond accordingly when an ignorant Cards fan like yourself decides to spout off incoherant nonsense. I still enjoy idiots like you very much.

Pujols has been playing with 'jammed' elbow

So, let me get this straight.  Pujols plays for two weeks with an injury, doesn't let anyone know, LaIdiot finds out and tells everyone, and Pujols is a whiner?  I know I'm prejudiced, but I'm afraid I don't understand the logic.
