The New York Post reports that the Red Sox held a workout for free agent Carlos Delgado Yankee Stadium on Friday, according to his agent.
Ian Browne of MLB.com confirms the workout via Twitter, but says it was just "due diligence," which would indicate that the Red Sox might not be serious about him as an option to platoon with Mike Lowell at first base in the absence of Kevin Youkilis.
Delgado, 38, has 483 career home runs, but hasn't played since last year. He had hip surgery, his second, in February.
